Arndt von Bohlen und Halbach (1901-1986) was a German industrialist and member of the famous Krupp family. He was the grandson of Friedrich Alfred Krupp, who transformed the Krupp family business into one of the largest steel and arms manufacturers in Europe during the 19th century.
Arndt von Bohlen und Halbach inherited a large portion of the Krupp family fortune and became the head of the Krupp conglomerate in 1943. During his tenure, the company produced armaments and military equipment for the Nazi regime, including artillery and tanks.
After World War II, Bohlen und Halbach was put on trial for war crimes at the Nuremberg trials, but was ultimately acquitted. He then worked to rebuild the Krupp company, shifting its focus to manufacturing consumer goods rather than weapons.
Bohlen und Halbach was also known for his lavish lifestyle, which included owning several yachts and a private island in the Caribbean. He died in 1986, and the Krupp family business was sold to Thyssen AG in 1999.
